Travel: Summer 2026 via Parkland College

This four week program is open to students who are interested in experiencing life in another culture while learning French language and culture in an immersion setting.
Dijon, France, located at the crossroads of Europe, is a lively, progressive university city of over 250,000 inhabitants. Capitol of gastronomy and gateway to the prestigious vineyards of Burgundy, Dijon is exceptionally rich in history and art. Heir to the splendors of the glorious court of the Dukes of Burgundy, Dijon boasts numerous monuments, museums, and architectural jewels including churches, cathedrals, and private residences dating from the Middle Ages.
Eligibility:
- Must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.00.
- Must have completed 15 college level credits at the time of application.
- Must be enrolled for a minimum of six credit hours at SSC during semester prior to departure.
- Must complete all appropriate application materials, including an application form, three letters of recommendation, a personal essay, and a person interview.

Travel: Summer 2026 via College of DuPage

Adventure awaits as you explore beautiful Costa Rica in a total immersion experience including intensive language classes at the Costa Rican Language Academy (CRLA), family home stays, and excursions to such places as Manuel Antonio National Park, Arenal Volcano and La Paz Waterfall Gardens. Costa Rica is a peaceful and democratic country. Its capital, San Jose, enjoys year-round temperatures in the 70s and is the cultural center of the country with its breathtaking National Theatre, museums, galleries and shops. Program includes round-trip airfare from Chicago, hotel accommodations on excursions, double occupancy home stay with breakfast and dinner, airport transfers in Costa Rica, cultural outings. Tuition: 6 credits.

Travel: Summer 2026 via Oakton Community College

In partnership with University of Ghana, Legon Campus, this four-week program is open to students who are interested in experiencing life in another culture. Travel with Illinois community college students, led by an Illinois community college professor. Weekend field trips to Cape Coast and the Volta Region included in the price.
Situated on the Atlantic coast, Accra is the capital city of Ghana. As its largest city, it is also the cultural hub and economic driver of the country. The city’s enormous Independence Square commemorates Ghana’s fight for independence with its Independence Arch, Black Star Gate and Liberation Day Monument. It is the second largest city square in the world after Tiananmen Square.

In partnership with Salzburg College, this program offers a three-week semester in the beautiful city of Salzburg, Austria. Salzburg is situated in the northern foothills of the Alps. Famous as the birthplace of Mozart and host to the Salzburg Festival, the city has long been a cultural center for Europe and was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1996.
Your study experience in Austria can become the most memorable time of your life. Salzburg College offers you academic programs tailored to your needs, with small classes and dedicated professors who encourage you to integrate your personal experience into your coursework. Make Salzburg, Austria, and Europe your classroom!
Classes run for 3 weeks; week 1 is delivered online at home and weeks 2 and 3 are taken in person in Austria. Cultural Excursions include trips to: The Salzkammergut Lake distric, The Austrian Alps, Mirabel Gardens and Palace, Hellbrunn Castle and Trick Fountains, and Fortress Hohensalzburg, and more.
