Yes, we will admit someone in their senior year of high school, who is committed to finishing both the program and high school simultaneously. We do ask that you are comfortable pursuing employment after training is complete.
You do not have to be vaccinated for Forklift Operator, Solar Technician, Community Health Worker and Contact Tracing Certificates.
You do need to be vaccinated to become a Patient Care Technician (PCT) and Certified Nursing Assistant (BNATP). Some exclusions do apply.
Yes, you can definitely come in to complete the application, and meet us too! Please come to room #3344 or you can apply online.
A majority of our programs are 1 year or less.
- Barber Technician Certification- 15 months (Full-Time), 36 months (Part-time)
- Contact Tracing- 8 weeks
Community Health Worker- 16 weeks (Full-time) - CNA (Basic Nursing Assistance Training Program (BNATP)-8 weeks (Full-time, day or evening available)
- Forklift-(Full time) 1 full day of class or (Part-time) 2 half day classes.
- PCT- Full-time 24 weeks (approximately 6 months)
This is the general process for each program but some exceptions apply to BNATP, Patient Care Technician, Solar Photovoltaic, Barber Technician and Pharmacy Tech.
- First you apply to SSC and receive your student i.d. number.
- Next you apply to WEI.
- Placement testing is required and we will assist you with the process. Please come to RM#3344. Once you have successfully completed the Placement test. (Placement testing required for some programs).
- Register for class! (Unfortunately, we cannot register you. You must register yourself, but the process is fun and easy.)
- Attend a Virtual Orientation
- Complete our enrollment forms:
- WEI Participation Agreement
- Employment Agreement
- Laptop/Technology Agreement
- Wait for class to start.
- In the meantime, get familiar with the school and school technology, such as D2L, the Academic Assistance Center, the Services for Students with Disabilities Office (SSDO), etc.
- Attend class & our Weekly Motivational Training Workshops! You are officially a WEI participant; go you!
Unfortunately, we cannot register you for class. We can verbally take you through the steps so you can understand how to do it.
Unfortunately, we cannot withdraw or drop you from a class. The WEI team can walk you through the process and refer you to an SSC counselor. This is something that each student must do independent of the WEI.
Please don’t be alarmed. Yes, you were sent a bill but no you do not need to pay it. The WEI will also be provided with the bill and will pay any outstanding tuition and fees associated with our program. Please adhere to all WEI requirements.
We use all financial resources available so that we can help as many students as possible. As a public institution we try to make every dollar stretch.
If you are denied financial aid, WEI covers 100% of your tuition and fees, if you adhere to the WEI participant agreement.
Our Barber class is very exciting and well accepted in the community. Our applicants exceed the available class seats. Once you finish your WEI application, you are put on a wait list, before the next enrollment occurs, you will be scheduled an interview and notified if you are accepted into the program.
Yes, we highly suggest taking another certification while you wait. We have certifications that take as little as one day and then we can help to place you into employment.
Yes, we certainly help with employment. We help you build your resume, do mock interviews and even connect you with local employers!
Yes, forklift has a weekend certification.
Yes, if you are a WEI participant please make an appointment with our Workforce Partnership Coordinator. She will help you create a new resume or enhance the resume you currently have.
The purpose of the Student Emergency Aid Program is to support SSC students who are experiencing an unexpected event or situation that requires immediate attention and support. Financial support up to $500 for short-term, nonrecurring emergencies is available. Categories of eligible expenses include, but are not limited to: utilities, housing/rent, food, medical/dental, transportation and child care.
