1. Submit An Application

The following communications will be sent to the email address provided on your SSC application.

• When the account is created.
• Once the application is submitted.
• Your acceptance letter containing your user name/password and instructions for your SSC Self Service account. This letter also includes instructions to set up your SSC email.

All announcements, Financial Aid information, and other communications from the college will be sent to your SSC email.

2. Submit All Official Transcripts

All official documents should be submitted to the Office of Admissions, 15800 South State Street, South Holland, IL 60473.

Students with foreign transcripts must have transcripts evaluated by Educational Credentials Evaluators, Inc. (ECE) during the first semester of attendance at SSC and are responsible for any ECE evaluation fees.
If you have transfer credits, you can reach a counselor by using QLESS (https://testwww.ssc.edu/qless/) to determine if placement tests are required.

3. Access Your SSC Student Email —stumail.ssc.edu

Accessing your SSC student email account is vital to receive official correspondence from SSC regarding grades, bills, due dates, confirmations, financial aid updates, registration deadlines, waitlist, and much, much, more.

• USER NAME:  username@student.ssc.edu
• PASSWORD:  Your password is the one that was assigned to you for Self Service.

This information was contained in your SSC “Welcome” email.

4. Assessment Testing

You may be exempt from testing if you have previous college credits but if you are required to take placement tests, please submit an email to Testingcenterquestions@ssc.edu or visit the Assessment (Testing) Center in Room 2366.

5. Prepare to ACT at orientation.ssc.edu
(use your assigned username and password)

This is an 45-60 minute online overview of the College policies, procedures and resources available for student success! Students will learn about:

• Academic Planning (Self Service)
• Financial Aid
• Support services (including tutoring, library, career and job preparedness, disability services, and veterans services)
• Programs of Study (Your degree or certificate program)
• Student IDs, email logins, and other communication tools
• Clubs and Organizations

6. Financial Aid

If you want to be considered for Financial Aid, you must apply online at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov. Federal School Code (001769) Normal turnaround for this option is 5-7 business days.

The Department of Education (DOE) will send you an email with a link to your Student Aid Report (SAR) within one week after completing your FAFSA application. Please review your SAR.

If your SAR is selected for a process called Verification you are required to submit additional documents to the Financial Aid Office.

7. Meet with a Counselor In-person or Virtually

South Suburban College counselors are here to assist you with choosing courses, understanding your curriculum, and providing a point of contact for your journey at SSC. You can reach a counselor by using QLESS (https://testwww.ssc.edu/qless/) or at (708) 596-2000 x5724.

8. Register for Classes

SSC Self Service is where you go to plan and register for courses, student financial information, and email. All students attempting to access SSC Self Service need to have completed the application process.

If you require assistance choosing courses, you should contact a counselor by using QLESS (https://testwww.ssc.edu/qless/) for guidance.

Any student without a user name and password needs to visit the Office of Admissions (main campus), with a valid, government-issued, photo ID to retrieve your information. You can also use the online password resend form. An email will be sent to the secondary email address on file.

If you do not live in the district but are using a charge-back agreement, cooperative agreement, work-in-district waiver, etc., you still need to register online, but then must come to the registration counter, on campus, to have your tuition rate adjusted (be sure to bring proper documentation). 9. Utilize Student Services

After confirming your class schedule contact the Office of Student Life & Leadership to obtain a student I.D. The SSC student I.D. supports access to free services (tutoring, academic accommodations, library reserves, etc.) and resources (loaner laptops, computer lab, food pantry, etc.) provided by the college to support your success.
