PROGRAM SUCCESS
The Network & Computer Technology Program will prepare students for entry and high level positions within the high-tech industry of digital switching and networking. Students will learn how to use networking technologies to provide data, voice, image, and video communications in the business industry and education.
The mission of the Network & Computer Technology Program at South Suburban College is to deliver a comprehensive education to our students to prepare them for entry-level positions in the field of computer science and provide promotional opportunities for those already working in the industry. Students are prepared to take several industry recognized certification exams.
Our vision is to provide students with a clear understanding of hardware and software system technologies in the field of computer science. Students will be better prepared to continue on to a four year university or enhance their job opportunities.
Through quality instruction from faculty and input from the Advisory Board Committee, the following goals have been established for the Computer Information Science Program:
- learn how to use networking technologies to provide data, voice, image, and video communications in the business.
- prepare for a career path towards an entry and level technical position in: help desk support, PC repair/installation, cabling installer, network administrator, system integrator, product support, system designer, system analyst, and Cisco CCNA.
- gain valuable on-the-job work experience in networking and computer technology by completing an internship within a professional office environment.
A.A.S. Degree
The curriculum will also help prepare students for a career path towards an entry level technical position in the computer maintenance field.
Certificate Program
Basic certificates designed to provide specialized training in specific areas. Requirements for a basic certificate are less than 30 hours.
