2023 Baseball Recruits

The following student athletes have signed letters of commitment to attend South Suburban College next fall. These players join an impressive legacy of SSC Bulldogs Baseball. The current student athletes’ graduation rate is 75% and some of whom have gone on to study and compete higher levels including the Major Leagues. Head Baseball Coach Steve Ruzich has coached eleven All-Americans including 2013 1st team Steve Letz and 2006 1st team (and present assistant coach) Lee Fischer, who was also voted best defensive player in the nation that year. As a player himself, “Coach Ru” was named second team All-American Catcher, All-District Catcher and All-Area Catcher. SSC has had 305 players have continued on to four-year college programs. 24 of Bulldog baseball players were drafted by major league teams including six players that have reached the big leagues including Rob Mackowiak, Tim Brydak, Ron Mahay and Tony Cingrani. Cingrani last pitched for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2018. These recruits will be on the upcoming Summer/Fall baseball roster.

Joey Carra (commit 2023) Joey is an Outfielder from Lake Central High School in St. John, IN.

Josh Warn (commit 2023) Josh is a Left Handed Pitcher from Lake Central High School in St. John, IN.

Nate Ruzich (commit 2023) Nate is a Right Handed Pitcher from Lincoln Way East High School in Frankfort, IL.

Jacob Douglas (commit 2023) Jacob is a Left Handed Pitcher from Thornwood High School in South Holland, IL.
