Jose “Tony” González— Head Coach
Head Men’s Soccer Coach Jose “Tony” González, who will be entering his sixth year as coach at South Suburban. During his tenure at the helm at the college, the SSC Men’s team has posted a 258-117-24 record, winning 64 percent of games played. “Coach Tony” is in the Top 10 in wins among all NJCAA active coaches.
Coach González has an extensive playing and coaching experience. He played collegiate soccer for the UIC Flames and was named Academic All-Conference in 1995 while earning Soccer Student Athlete of the Year in 1997. In 2002, he also served as the top assistant at UIC.
González has trained and coached players of all ages and levels. In the summer of 2003, he earned the USSF National “B” license.
Coach González is a 1997 graduate from University of Illinois at Chicago and has a Bachelors of Art in the Teaching of Spanish.
